2015 Trot off your Turkey 5k

November 28, 2015
Barrington, RI
Sub 30, Easy 8's

I think it's safe to say, this race went much better than the last time I ran it. I haven't raced in two years, and it's probably time to get back into those yellow shoes. One of my sons ran the Fall season in school, and wanted to run the 5k this year. I have run with him plenty of times, but never in a race, so we signed up and off we went.

We started off well enough, kind of fast in the first mile. When it came time to pick it up in the second mile, we backed off a bit. Neither of us had been running regularly, but he really needed to catch his breath. By the third mile, we were scooting along, not exactly sprinting, but faster than a shuffle. Of course, when he saw the crowd near the finish, he had to pick it up, so he looked good for his fans.

This was a fun event, racing with my son for the first time, and working together to get him to the finish. I know there will be more, and I know someday, it'll be him helping me along.

I'm looking forward to it.
